Special Spaces

Special Spaces is a nonprofit organization that creates dream bedrooms for children with life-threatening illnesses. Founded in 2004, the organization wants to provide a place of peace and comfort to help them heal and recover. Each child's bedroom is sponsored by an organization, such as Dutchman Heating and Cooling, Inc.

Young Naperville Singers - YNS

YNS choirs give back to the community through performances at local senior citizen residences, Naperville Municipal Band concerts, Naperville’s annual Rib Fest, The Kids Matter Annual Service Awards, Edward Hospital Cancer Center’s fundraiser and the Feed My Starving Children and Our Children’s Homestead’s galas.

Dutchman Heating became involved with YNS three years ago when the owner's daughter, auditioned to join their choral program. Our daughter was placed in the Dolce choir and has since moved up to the Bella Voce choir. Our daughter has grown to appreciate music through YNS and enjoys her time with them. She was very blessed to be able to travel to Austria, Germany and Switzerland in summer 2017 where the choir sang in various churches and other venues.

Naperville Chamber of Commerce
Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Committee

The Naperville Chamber of Commerce is one of only a handful of 5-star Chambers in the country, with over 1,400 members encompassing startup businesses, Fortune 500 companies, and everything in between. Mike Bakker, President of Dutchman Heating and Cooling Inc., has been a Chamber Member and Ambassador since 2006, taking a brief hiatus in 2010. Ambassadors are considered “the face of the Chamber.” Mike’s role as Ambassador includes, among other things, welcoming new members, participating in ribbon cuttings, and assisting with Chamber events.

From Mike:
“I love in particular going to ribbon cuttings. A ribbon cutting is done when a new or existing business either opens a new location or does a “makeover” that they want to announce to the community.  They schedule with the Chamber this recognition to have a celebration of where they are and what they have to offer to the community.  It is great to see the enthusiasm and get to know what they are doing.  We love to welcome them, encourage them, and network with them and their guests.  We exchange ideas to improve upon what we do, but also may find a need in the business or service they provide.

By volunteering to the chamber as an Ambassador, we get to help other businesses succeed and can give back to the community in charities we may support as well.  While serving, though, it is always a way of getting your own name and business reputation in front of many others.  Some may join for the service, but all are rewarded with growth in their own business.”
